Papier-mâché, being a soft and fragile material, is reinforced with a chalk-based coating made from rabbit glue and chalk. This gives the material stability whilst also imparting colour to its surface. Depending on the angle from which it is viewed, the work reveals different colour tones, some facing outwards and others inwards.
