The forms I discover in my surroundings are often my source of inspiration. The ways in which I present my work evolve from the creative process itself, which is shaped by different techniques, tools and working conditions. In this piece, I have bound a papier-mâché object—which I coated with a chalk base—to the aluminium casting using a PET tape. In the Middle Ages, chalk ground was often used in barrel painting as a surface coating on a figure carved from wood. It made the wooden figure appear lifelike.
